WHAT: West Virginia University co-hosts the 2022 Mine Drainage Task Force Symposium where mining and reclamation experts will provide the latest updates on regulations and practices including mine drainage, surface and underground mining, and reclamation techniques.

WHO: Jeff Skousen, professor of soil science in the WVU Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design and WVU Extension land reclamation specialist; Paul Ziemkiewicz, director of the West Virginia Water Research Institute, and other mining and reclamation experts.

NOTES: The West Virginia Mine Drainage Task Force was formed in 1978 to investigate acid mine drainage associated with surface mining in central West Virginia. Since then, the task force has broadened its scope to include areas outside of West Virginia and research of many diverse mine drainage issues.
Speakers will include experts in industry, government and higher education, and scientists from the Davis College and Extension Service. The National Mine Land Reclamation Center will also share current findings.
The meeting is expected to draw approximately 250 attendees from across the United States and neighboring countries.
