WHAT: The 2023 Evolving Energy Conference, hosted by West Virginia University TransTech Energy, will bring together energy and technology experts from academic institutions, federal agencies and corporate partners to discuss the ever-evolving energy sector, as well as key needs for energy transition such as workforce development and community engagement. Highlights will include multiple networking sessions, panel discussions and an energy technology pitch competition.

WHO: : Erienne Olesh, executive director of faculty and student innovation, WVU Research Office; Sam Taylor, director, WVU WISER; Emily Calandrelli, WVU alumna and MIT-engineer turned Emmy-nominated science TV host, and academic, government and corporate energy experts
NOTES: The Evolving Energy Conference aims to bring together stakeholders to discuss how to build upon the energy strengths of the Appalachian region. During the event, dialogue and panel discussions will address barriers and opportunities for the path forward for energy.
As part of it, an energy pitch competition will be held in front of investors, potential partners and economic development professionals. There will be $200,000 in technical assistance funds awarded. Innovators chosen to present at the Evolving Energy pitch competition will be able to meet with expert advisors and business coaches to prepare presentations.
