WISER selected to DOE's peer-learning cohort to advance clean energy in Appalachia

I’m pretty psyched to share that the West Virginia University Institute for Energy and Sustainability Research (WISER) has been selected to participate in the first-ever regionally focused cohort of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Energy to Communities (C2C) Peer Learning Cohorts - Appalachia!

This opportunity allows us to collaborate with communities and partners across the region to drive local energy solutions that are both innovative and regionally relevant. As part of this cohort, WISER is excited to engage with other Appalachian leaders to exchange knowledge, identify best practices, and build energy systems that prioritize the unique needs of our communities.

At WISER, we recognize that the future of energy in Appalachia is rooted in the strength and resilience of our communities. Our work is focused on making sure changes in the energy sector are good for the people of the region, and support workforce development, enhances energy resiliency, and drives economic growth in a way that honors the region’s legacy in the energy sector.

This collaboration is an important step in ensuring that our state and region remain at the forefront of energy innovation while addressing the opportunities and challenges specific to Appalachia. I look forward to working with the cohort and DOE as we work to build a reliable, efficient, affordable, and locally produced energy landscape for our communities.
